Each print was made using very high quality 1600dpi + scans of construction paper. A special apparatus was used to keep the scanner lid open so it wouldn't apply pressure to the paper but still not spill light inside so that the texture and tiny shadows remained in the scan and didn't become flat. Each piece was built in Illustrator and each part color coordinated so that it could be easily deconstructed and reassembled in Photoshop to apply the construction paper textures. At a native 300dpi, each print is over 6 feet wide. My casting method for Prime takes the auditioners on a little bit of a wild ride. I look for how each person interacts with others, who is a leader, who follows, who is comfortable going outside their comfort zone, etc. I need to have the confidence in my choices to explain them to anyone and know that when it’s time to shoot, they will be able to perform. As they walk out, people often say it was the most fun audition they have ever done. Although showing the contents of a truck or other delivery vehicle is a semi-common theme in livery design, I wanted to push it further. In this case, the actress I cast as our singer couldn’t actually sing. She could act like she was singing, but through the lens, it just wasn’t authentic enough. I asked her to sing for real, but as it turned out—she was very self conscious about her singing voice. To make her feel more comfortable the whole cast and crew joined in the singing fun. PR initially asked for a simple interview with Gael about his show Mozart in the Jungle, which was going to be available to stream for the first time in Mexico. However, I thought we were missing an opportunity. It is important to me to show that Amazon takes great care to fit itself inside the culture of the countries we serve. So, I rescripted the interview questions so they were a little deeper than the show itself and developed a shot list with guest DP Matt Daniels.
